Good point!
I have first hand experience with KFlop about half year ago. It was amazingly solid and responsive. Quality of the hardware and software implementation on highest technical level.
All design conceptually clear and flexible. Easy and logical programming and user interface.

For past a few month I made number of small and big projects - all is what is expected.  Error rate close to absolute zero, just what you want.  Follow up all wiring with grounding, good power supply and shielding - this is your success with KFlop.

Good job Tom!  Thank you for the support you great products!

Happy CNCing,
Vlad

I'm surprised someone hasn't spoken up yet
I have bought/installed 10 kflops in the last 3[4?] years
and 4 snap amps,
machines have been a mixture of stepper,ac servo,dc servo.
His card and software have been rock solid!
any issues I have had were self inflicted. Tom even [patiently]
helps to solve those too.

I say go for it, setup is a bit different from Mach, but if I can do it anyone can!

I looked at EMC, but I do want something I can customize to better suit my machine and work-flow. Being able to modify the UI in KFlop is a HUGE attraction to me, ASSUMING the KFlop and associated software is very robust.

I dont think you will be disappointed with it. Have not used the KmotionCNC thow. I have installed 2 KFLOPS. One is on my Mill/Drill the other is on a Bridgeport type knee mill. Both use stepper motors and glass scales to close the loop. Making machine very accurate. as someone has said..." Best thing seance sliced bread." ;)

I had been waiting for others to write first because to be honest, I had not run my machine with the k enough as its only a hobby for me..

But I can say for sure i can see it as a great product and for sure would consider adding it to my other machines to some time in the future.  Really the only thing around which could do what I needed as I'm running the k with a kanalog to my moot drives.

Support / help is also off the chart to.

I do question your complaints with Mach a bit though as in many years of use i have not really had it do anything it was not told to.  But perhaps you were using some more advanced features or something.  I keep my mach machines one a win2000 and the other xp totally insolated/dedicated.  I think that is important for stability sake.

I'd say give it a try.  For the price it is really not much a dollar risk.

The specs and features on the device are incomparable. I am the testing phase as I am building a framework to use it in c#, but from the tests I have run it has motion profiles as smooth or smoother than cards 10x the price.

Subject: Re: Sooooo.... How Robust Is The KFlop?
I tend to be any softwares worst enemy - I have never met a piece of software I couldn't break, badly, within minutes. I have found, and helped fix, quite a few bugs in Mach3, and several in the SmoothStepper as well. The most recent batch, after many hours on the phone over the last week with Brian, the Mach3 developer, are now, all but one, fixed. We found, and fixed, several significant problems, and the one remaining one is a nuisance rather than something that risks ruined work. And I'm sure that one will be fixed in the next week or so. I do tend to be a "power user", and push the system to its limits, but even so it surprises me that others had not come across some of these sooner.

So, for the time being, I'm going to stick with Mach3, but I do intend to upgrade to the KFlop at some point in the near future, when I can better afford it (I'm currently unemployed, so money is tight).

Ray L.

I like the sound of that! I found the SmoothStepper to be a big step up from the parallel port in Mach3. Sounds like KFlop could be just a bit better yet!

As I'm taking a stab at making money with my machine, reliability, and absolutely consistent performance, are fast becoming FAR more important than they used to be.
